Kristen Esquivel

Apprentice

Kristen is an Apprentice Stylist at RAW Hair & Co. in Dallas, shaped by a Paul Mitchell education and a client-focused background. Her work starts with listening. Before color, styling, or a consultation, Kristen takes time to understand each client’s routine, comfort level, and personal style. Through mentorship and hands-on training at RAW, she is building a craft centered on trust, clear communication, and color and styling choices that feel natural to each client.

What drives your passion for hair coloring and styling, and how do you incorporate individuality into your work?

“I love that no two clients are alike. Hair is one of the most personal forms of self-expression, and I enjoy helping clients discover looks that reflect their personality and enhance their natural beauty. My approach is always centered on the individual, making sure every service feels customized and intentional.”

How has your journey at RAW shaped your growth?

“Since joining RAW Hair & Co. in Dallas, I’ve grown in both confidence and technical skill. Working alongside talented artists has strengthened my consultation process, expanded my understanding of customized color and styling, and reinforced the importance of creating an exceptional experience for every guest in my chair.”

Why is lifelong learning key for you?

“I graduated from Paul Mitchell, where I developed a strong foundation in technical skills and client experience. Since joining RAW, I’ve continued my education through mentorship, hands-on training, and ongoing industry education. Learning directly from experienced artists at RAW has helped me grow in consultation, customized color placement, and client-focused artistry.”

What’s your approach to creating personalized results?

“I believe great results start with a thorough consultation. Understanding a client’s routine, goals, and comfort level helps me create color and styling choices that fit their lifestyle, not just the appointment.”

What’s your take on trends?

“I enjoy staying current with new techniques and trends, but I believe the best results come from adapting those ideas to the individual. My goal is never to recreate the same look on every client, but to find what works best for them.”

How do you make clients feel heard in the chair?

“I believe collaboration is one of the most important parts of creativity. I encourage open conversations with clients so they feel involved throughout the process, and I enjoy learning from the talented artists around me every day. Sharing ideas and supporting one another creates an environment where everyone can continue to grow.”

What sets RAW apart for you?

“RAW invests in its team. The culture encourages continuous learning, mentorship, collaboration, and creative freedom. Everyone is committed to helping one another succeed, creating an atmosphere where both stylists and clients can thrive.”

What philosophy guides your work?

“Before becoming a stylist, I spent several years in customer-focused roles. Those experiences taught me the importance of communication, trust, and meaningful connections. When I entered the beauty industry, I realized those same principles are at the heart of every successful client relationship. That perspective continues to shape my approach behind the chair and inspires me to create experiences that leave clients feeling confident.”
